Yahoo today celebrated the publication of previously classified documents from its legal battle with the US government over expanded data requests. As part of the release, the company revealed that the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court threatened a $250,000 per day fine for refusing to provide customer data. The battle between Yahoo and the state occurred in 2007 and 2008, but the company filed last year to have the records unsealed after the Snowden leak implicated tech companies in the NSA’s surveillance apparatus.
