New The Steel Sculpture, The Warning, Commemorates The Heroism Of Santa Paulans Who Worked To Relieve Lives During The St. Francis Dam Disaster Of 1928


The 200-foot tall St. Francis Dam collapsed on March 12, 1928, merely later it was completed v miles northeast of Newhall, California. The floodwaters swept downwards the Santa Clara River valley to the ocean, claiming 450 lives.

As the overflowing approached Santa Paula inwards the darkness of night, 2 Santa Paula law officers route motorcycles through the depression lying areas of town, alarm residents to evacuate. Telephone operators similarly called residents through the night.
